Week 9(Grid Art)

For my grid art assignment I drew a picture of a fox from a reference photo.

Week 8(finished zentangle)

Title: Imagine A Dragon
Size: 11 by 14 inches
Materials: a pencil, and black marker, and some sketchbook paper
My assignment was to do a zen tangle within a shape of my choosing so I made my zen tangle inside the head of a dragon/sea monster.  I hope you like it!

Week 7(zentangle part 1)

Title: Zen Tangle Sea Monster Part 1
Size: 11 by 14 inches
Materials: sketchbook paper and a pencil
My assignment was to start my zen tangle project, which I did.  I chose to do my zen tangle within the head of a sea monster.

Week 6(Building)

Title: Lucky Slice Sketch
Size: 11 by 14 inches
materials: sketchbook paper, pencil, and sharpie marker
My assignment was to draw a building so I tried to draw the Lucky Slice pizza place.

Week 5(OP Art)

Title: Spiral Illusion Turtle
Size: 11 by 14 inches
Materials: Sketchbook paper, a sharpie, a pencil, and markers
The assignment was to draw an optical illusion so I decided to draw a turtle and make the shell the illusion.  I wasn't really sure how to do it but I did my best.  You may want to click into the picture when viewing so that you have a clearer view.

Quarter four(WaterColor Techniques)

Title: Water Color Techniques
Size: 12 x 14 inches, I think
Materials: Water color paper and water color paints
This displays 8 water color techniques: Solid wash, dry wash, wet on wet, drop color on wet color, dry brush, scumbling, brushing out pigment, and water splatter.

Week 3, quarter four(Inspired Art)

Title:  Girl in the Garden
Size:  14 x 11 inches
Materials: a piece of sketchbook paper, a pencil, and the paint that came in my art kit
My assignment was to make a piece of art inspired by an art movement.  I chose impressionism, which I wrote at the top of my paper but you probably can't see.  I'm not very good at drawing people so the girl may look a little weird.  Her face looks green because I was experimenting while trying to find the best colors for her skin.  This was inspired by the impressionism art movement as well as Frank Weston Benson's The Watcher painting.

  

Week 1- Quarter Four(Ink Motif)

Flower Motif
Size: the art itself is 6 inches x 6 inches
Materials: Sketchbook paper, pencil, sharpie, colored pencil, colored marker
My assignment was to pick an object to be my motif and repeatedly draw that within a square, then give it a background of black.  I decided to do flowers, and I chose to do a striped background because I think it allows this piece of work to be more interesting.

Still life

Still Life Assignment
Size:  11 by 14 inch
Materials: Sketch book, pencil, and model objects
My assignment was to do a still life with objects that meant something to me.  I drew a stack of books because I love to read, there is a horse figurine on top because in real life I painted that figurine myself with a friend, and horses are my favorite animal, there is a pencil because I love to write stories, and there is a necklace because I bought that particular necklace with another friend whom I have known practically since we were born, and she has a necklace identical to the one that I have that is in the picture.  I tried my best to draw these objects with accuracy, but because it was my first time drawing these particular objects I couldn't completely succeed.

Self Portrait

Materials: Sketchbook and pencil
My assignment was to do a self portrait that not only portrayed my face but something about me.  I drew my face on the cover of a book because I love to read and I also love to write stories.  My dream is to publish a book someday.  I feel like I could have made this better if I had more practice but this is one of the first times I've drawn a self portrait.

Face Proportion Drawing

Size : This was drawn on a 11 by 14 inch piece of paper in my sketchbook.
Materials:  Paper and pencil
My assignment was to draw a face with proper proportions, which I attempted to do with this drawing.

Sillhouette

Title: The Leap
Size:  This was done on a piece of paper that was 11 by 8.5 inches.
Materials: Black construction paper, white paper, glue, scissors, and a pencil.
My assignment was to make a silhouette story, and so I decided to portray a horse going over a jump because I take lessons on jumping horses.

Week Four-Artist Trading Cards

Title: Sun, Moon, and Stars Card Set
Size: Each card is 2.5 inches x 3 inches
Materials: Pen, Black Marker, Colored Pencils, and water color paper
My assignment was to make a set of artist trading cards, so I wanted to portray the sun, moon, and stars.  I also really wanted to focus on symmetry with the two clouds on the sun card, the two clouds on the moon card, and the two little stars on the star card.

Week 3-Art

 Title: Untitled
Size: 11 by 8.5 inches
Materials: colored pencils and paper
This artwork shows a horse walking on a cloud.  I think it portrays my longing to run free like a wild horse.  I think that because the sky is purple and the horse is blue and yellow, this shows that when we view the world with our imaginations, we are viewing a different world all together.

My assignment was to draw an object.  I chose to draw a violin because I wanted to draw an object that meant something to me, and because I'm a violin player a violin does mean something to me.  I really wanted to make the shape of the violin realistic.
